Human Non-Parenchymal cells Mix (Human NPCs Mix) constitutes about 30% of the total liver cell population and are specialized cells which interact with hepatocytes for physiological liver functions.
NPCs present organotypic hepatocytes – Non-Parechymal cells interactions via direct contact or paracrine signaling, and forming a functional hepatic unit.
Among their many functions, Non-Parenchymal cells play an important role for liver regeneration as well as recovery from inflammatory liver injury and scaring.

Because liver function relies on so much more than hepatocytes themselves, co-cultures with Non-Parenchymal Cells are critical for every in vitro liver model. For this reason, liver co-cultures may increase the sensitivity of liver models for ADME/Tox-related research by recapitulating the complexity of a whole liver.

“NPCs Mix” provides a mix of different types of liver cells, including Kupffer cells, liver endothelial and liver endothelial sinusodial cells and Stellate cells.

Basic Characterization

Determination of cell number and viability.

Additional Characterization

The principal markers present in the NPC cell fraction are used to determine their expression and percentage.
